| captdave - 03-Jul-11 14:01 Batista copied the Barcelona formation to try and get the best out of Messi. Messi dropped deep as he does for Barcelona, Cambiasso was often ahead of Messi in an advanced position. Mascherano dropped very deep between the two centre backs who split wide. When defending the shape was 4-1-4-1. At halftime Batista brought on Di Maria for Cambiasso and changed the shape to 4-2-3-1 with Tevez as the main striker. The Barcelona style 4-3-3 has been Argentina s formation since Batista took charge, it will be interesting to see if he returns to it for their next game or persists with 4-2-3-1. |
